More about the inspiration behind the Colorful Blacks Collection

At what point is it ”Black”?

With the invention and capabilities of synthetic dyes, our understanding of black as a color has shifted, expecting it to be as deep, and  “pure” as possible. But, it has not always been the case and it got me questioning at what point a color is dark enough to be considered “black”.

This quest to explore black variances has been nothing short of thrilling for me. It is a journey that goes beyond the mere absence of light, pushes the boundaries of our perception, and challenges conventional notions of black being just a basic color.

Colorful Blacks: A conscious approach to color

A collection of sustainably dyed items in different shades of black is incredibly versatile and appealing. By using natural dyes, I unlock a diverse range of blacks with unique qualities. These dyes work well on different fabrics, allowing to create a collection with a variety of textures and patterns. This means there's something for everyone, suiting different tastes, needs, and values. The collection offers a wide range of options, combining aesthetics with environmental responsibility.

It's important to note that black is the most popular color in the apparel industry, so this collection meets the demand while also pushing the boundaries of what black can be. It goes beyond the usual perception of black as a basic color and offers a fresh and exciting take on it.

Color emerging from the darkness

This collection explores color through the interplay of light, going beyond traditional boundaries. It incorporates UV-sensitive or glow-in-the-dark pigments that symbolize the transformative power of light. As these pigments activate, colors come to life, evoking wonder and awe. The collection challenges our understanding of color and embraces the hidden potential within darkness.

By revealing a captivating glow, it embodies the magic that unfolds when colors are illuminated from within. This journey of discovery pushes the boundaries of how we perceive and experience color, where darkness and light converge, celebrating the remarkable beauty and potential of colors revealed through shifts of light.
