Solo Exhibit At The Rep
Solo Exhibit At The Rep
A 2-week art display throughout the coffee shop interior and outside patio spaces kicked off by a night of light show and live performance coloring art pieces with the hibiscus waste generated by the coffee shop.
The Colorful Blacks Blissful Voids artwork pieces showcased inside the coffee shop.
Spectrum Of Dreams pieces displayed and lit on the back patio.
Before the first drop of ink fell, the energy in the air was electric. Artworks on one side, glowing in soft blue light, whispered the promise of what was to come.
Each piece displayed held its own story, offering a preview of the journey from sustainable materials to breathtaking visuals.
But let me go back to how the journey begun…
Before the magic of the live performance, there was the mindful preparation: Each step, honoring the sustainability and vibrancy of what nature offers.
The hibiscus waste wasn’t just waste: it was potential. Carefully processed, its vibrant essence was coaxed out to create this stunning natural ink, a true celebration of organic beauty, from which I was able to create a 4 colors palette.
The hibiscus inks put aside, it was time to prepare the fibers. The fabric, properly scoared was then shaped up with intentional hand sewing stitching points: The patterns would be created by the negative spaces unexposed to the ink. Each step of this process was a meditative reconnection to the matter and materials, transforming what could have been discarded into a palette of exciting potential.
Live performance coloring fabric with ink made from the Rep Hibiscus waste.
That night, as live music filled the air, hibiscus ink became my voice. With every beat and melody, the ink cascaded onto the textured fabrics I’d prepared, responding to the rhythms, the harmonies, and the voices of the performers. My movements were guided by the music, a channel between sound and color, a dance that turned soundwaves into visuals.
The joy I felt was pure and transformative, a divine connection between nature, art, and the shared energy of everyone present.
This wasn’t just a performance; it was an unfolding, a dialogue between color, sound, and the moment itself.
And here it is: the result of movement meeting material.
The hibiscus ink has seeped into some of the folds, enhancing the textures and sculptural forms. What was once fabric prepared with care is now art transformed by the energy of the night.
These fabrics are now in the making to be shaped up into final, ready-to-hang sculptural pieces. Stay tuned to learn how they turn out.
